COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility Opens for Three New Groups
Written by Comms Team, May 6, 2021
Limited Vaccine Appointments Available in Late May
Starting today, eligibility for COVID-19 vaccine has expanded for the following three groups:
- People who are 50 years of age and older in 2021,
- People with high-risk health conditions and one of their essential caregivers, and,
- Essential workers who cannot work from home in Group 1.
On Monday, May 10, a limited number of local vaccination appointments in late May will become available in the provincial booking system for these new groups and all eligible residents.
“We expect Peterborough’s vaccine supply to be reduced for another week as the Ontario government continues to focus its vaccine allocations on provincial hot spots,” said Dr. Rosana Salvaterra, Medical Officer of Health. “We should start to see substantially more vaccine flowing into our region starting the week of May 17, just in time for us to plan more clinics as more age bands and groups become eligible to book their appointment.”
Eligible residents can book their appointment online at www.ontario.ca/bookvaccine or by phone at 1-833-943-3900 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.
Before booking a vaccine appointment, residents are strongly encouraged to review the vaccine eligibility guidance at peterboroughpublichealth.ca.
