COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility Expands to Residents 18 Years and Older

Vaccine Appointments Now Booking into June

Starting today (May 18), eligibility for booking a COVID-19 vaccine appointment has expanded for all Peterborough residents 18 years of age and older.

Residents who are 17 but turning 18 in 2021 will now be eligible to book at a local COVID-19 vaccine clinic through the provincial booking system. Please choose a clinic date except those that are labeled “must be 18 at time of appointment”.

Eligible residents can book their appointment online anytime at www.ontario.ca/bookvaccine or by phone at 1-833-943-3900 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.

In addition, eligible residents who are waiting for their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine can now also apply to be on a vaccine standby list. Residents who sign up for this list may be called if doses are leftover at the end of a mass vaccination clinic run by Peterborough Public Health. The purpose of the standby list is to avoid wasting any doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. This list fills and then closes temporarily, re-opening as additional applicants are needed. Residents are encouraged to check the standby application list regularly for openings.

The province has also announced that starting May 31 residents aged 12-17 years will be eligible to book into specific family vaccination clinics in June. Peterborough Public Health has added this age category to the ‘Notify Me’ tool. Families may wish to wait a few weeks to take advantage of the opportunity to book everyone aged 12 and over to get their vaccines together at the same time. Residents can sign up at www.peterboroughpublichealth.ca/notifyme to receive a notification with more information about booking an appointment at these clinics.

By the end of May, many pharmacies throughout the Peterborough area will also be administering either the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine to anyone 18 years of age or older.
