2021 PPH Audited Financial Statements

The 2021 consolidated financial statements for Peterborough Public Health (PPH) were audited by Baker Tilly KDN LLP in accordance with the Canadian generally accepted auditing standards. The audit concluded that the 2021 financial statements present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of Peterborough Public Health in accordance with the Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards. The statements will be posted to the PPH Reports and Data page once final statements are received from the auditors.

2022-2025 Strategic Plan Proposal

Dr. Thomas Piggott, Medical Officer of Health, shared the completed Peterborough Public Health Strategic Plan for 2022-2025. The strategic plan will focus on three priorities with a general theme of health equity to guide the work. The plan was designed with input from the PPH Board of Health, PPH staff, and 8 focus groups involving external partners and stakeholders. The strategic directions focus on the well-being of staff, the needs of our community and stakeholders, and the role PPH plays in the healthcare system. Sarah Gill, Manager of Communications, presented on the communications plan for the strategic plan. The goal of the communications plan is to assist the community and partners in understanding the strategic directions that will guide PPH’s work over the next three years. The strategic plan will launch to the public in September of 2022.

Association of Local Public Health Agencies (alPHa) Annual General Meeting & Conference Update

Board Chair, Mayor Andy Mitchell, Larry Stinson, Director of Operations, and Dr. Thomas Piggott, provided an update on the alPHa Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Conference held on June 14, 2022. Five resolutions were passed at the AGM, including one brought forward by Peterborough Public Health regarding the restructuring/modernization of public health units in Ontario. These resolutions will be included in a package presented to the Minister of Health by alPHa representatives at an upcoming meeting.
