COVID-19 and Influenza Vaccine are Available for High-Risk Populations!

Peterborough Public Health is reporting the first confirmed case of Influenza (flu) in the region.

“Compared to previous years, this is an early case of flu in the region as we typically expect to see the flu pop up around November or December,” says Dr. Thomas Piggott, Medical Officer of Health. “But we have seen the season become earlier over the past 3 years with our first cases arriving before the vaccine does. Fortunately, the COVID-19 and flu vaccines should be available in local pharmacies next week for those who are at highest risk.”

The best prevention against COVID-19 and Influenza infections is to receive a vaccine this fall. Starting Monday, COVID-19 and flu vaccines will be available at some local pharmacies for high-risk residents. Starting October 28, all residents 6 months of age and older will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 and Influenza vaccines.
