Credible, Evidence-Based Learning Program Now Available for Local Families

Today Peterborough Public Health introduced a free online prenatal education program for families on its website www.peterboroughpublichealth.ca.

“We are very excited to offer families the opportunity to learn about pregnancy and birth using this fresh online program that is evidence-based,” said Carolyn Doris, Manager of Family & Community Health Programs. “We recognize that young families often want to access information online where it’s available 24/7, so we’re very pleased to add this program to our prenatal education repertoire.”

Registration takes less than one minute and is completely free. The online prenatal education program is organized into four classes that focus on pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and understanding your newborn. It takes 4-6 hours to complete all the classes in the program. The program features:

  • Essential information that is reviewed and current
  • Videos, 3D animations, interactive learning activities, fun quizzes, helpful website links, downloadable PDFs, and a Parent’s Toolbox.
  • Information you can easily access from your computer, phone or tablet
  • No commercials or sponsored content
  • Audio voiceover and closed captioning

The online program offers a cost-free option to the regular in-person prenatal education classes run by Peterborough Public Health. For more information about prenatal education classes, please click here or visit www.peterboroughpublichealth.ca and search for “online prenatal”.
